State
State J Eckert
Maybe I should call her
To see if she's OK.
But every time I start to speak
She turns and looks the other way.
And I know that she's doing all right.
She's alone in her own state of mind.
She begs you to be near her
But she doesn't know your there.
I stopped by to pay her some mind
She didn't really seem to care
And she paints pretty pictures passing time.
She's alone in her own state of mind.
I wish that I could tell her everything is gonna work
out fine
But she has so much to think about, with nothing ever on her mind
Time goes by and she wonders why, she has to do this on her own.
I knock on the door and I know she's there but,
Nobody's at home.
Everything is standing still, as her world spins
All of that time to shut you out she'll never let you in
And she closes the door to hide the light.
She's alone in her own state of mind.
