Silent Day

Silent Day J.F.X. Eckert

Something came around, but I was looking down
I tried too hard to breathe that always brings me 'round.
It's something that you said that helped me off the ground.
The whispers in my head said "Johnnie stick around"

I just had to call you to say I was alive
Nothing else much going on
I'll call you later tonight.

I make a cup of coffee and turn the TV off
Look outside again, turn the TV back on.
Think I'll take a drive, but I can't find the keys
Something here's not right; oh it's only me

I just had to call you to say I'm doing fine
Nothing else much going on
I'll call you later tonight.

I'm lying on my back, staring at the ceiling
Counting all the cracks in the floor.
Another silent day I'm getting used to it this way
I don't expect anything more.

I'll take another breath and then I'll let it go
The nicotine taste good my nerves have told me so.
Can't make up my mind which song I want to play
There's nothing doing here I'll write it anyway

I just had to call you to say that it's all right
Nothing else much going on
I'll call you later tonight.
