Ain't that you?
Ain't that you? J.F.X. Eckert
I heard around town that you've been at it again
Skiing in the Rockies and riding that train
Dropping all your yellows and your purples and your blues
I said Hey man that sounds like you.
They say you've been walking that tightrope dream
Jumping back and forth with the opposing team
Then scraping off the shit from the bottom of your shoes
I said Yeah man that sounds like you
(Chorus)
Here we go again with the circle spinning 'round
Half Jacked up on the memories you found
You'll look mighty good under that final stone
But if you want to shovel dirt you'll have to do it on your own.
Cover up your eyes to filter out the day
Criss crossing ideas in your usual way
Then bitching 'bout the things that you put yourself through
Yeah that sure sounds like you.
Chorus
Same tortured mind same pain in the ass
You haven't changed your system since last nights crash
I sat down to watch the 6 o'clock news
I said hey that sure looks like you
Ain't that you?
Ain't that news?

This song was written mainly for a friend of mine who got a bit messed up in life. She is a wonderful person, but sometimes we fall off the track. I know I have one too many times. "Skiing in the Rockies and riding that train Dropping all your yellows and your purples and your blues" Coke and pills. "Half Jacked up on the memories you found" is about people who still reside in the "good old days". I couldnt wait to get out of the good old days (But that's just me).The only line in this song that was different was an ode to my father. He was crashing his computer every other day and then calling me to help. So "You haven't changed your system since last nights crash" was for him..... |
