The Chase

The Chase J. Eckert 2\97

Slipping through the fingers of another filthy day
looks like I haven't a friend
Every time I say that I'm the only one that stayed
I close my eyes and turn my head

You were in the process of another bleeding heart
I thought that you would pull yourself through
You stumbled to the ground and then I heard you laugh out loud
I haven't seen you in a day or two

So what's the point of giving you sorrow
You'd only throw it back in my face
Only time will tell if all my words will be dispelled
It's not the thrill of the kill it's the chase

I was an observer of the human meat machine
When you came to bother me for some time
You said it's getting good I said I thought I knew it would
We kept on laughing at the poor fools in line

How can I try to follow
When your standing in one place
Only time will tell if all my words will be dispelled
It's not the thrill of the kill it's the chase

Creeping up on you like some hidden mystery
You left and said I'm out of my mind
But you didn't seem afraid when you were sitting in the shade
of a shadow that I left behind.
