Dreamer's Sky

I should have woke up
But I just kept on dreaming.
It was of days gone by and you were on this side again.
You looked into my eyes
And told me that you need me.
I thought for sure, I'd be with you till the end.

But it was only for a moment, I thought it would last all night
And I heard your voice as I woke to face another day.
And I looked out of my window, and thought that I saw you there
But it was only my reflection and the rain kept pouring down on my face.

I laid back down
And drifted off to my mind.
You were standing there waiting for me to share your world.
You took me by the hand
And said that this could be forever
It's just a breath away, then I could stay for good.

And it was only for a moment
Then you were gone with a blink of my eye.
And it took me back to when you promised me you'd always stay.
It took me back to that morning
When I found you lying there (the note)
Said you couldn't take it and you didn't even mention my name.

Well it gets me to start thinking
And I have to ask myself why
I could be forever in a dreamer's sky.

Now I'm lost inside that moment
And I'm blinded by the light
And I'm looking for you and I can't seem to find my way
And I looked out of my window, and thought that I saw you there
But it was only my reflection and the rain kept pouring down on my face.

I'll never wake up
Alone again in my mind.
It had to be that you lied to me like before.
Won't go away
And now this is forever
And if you asked me to, I'd follow you once more
If it's only for a moment……….

 

 

After the first Echo Grove CD was done, a lot of people asked why I didnt write any love songs. Or at least something that made them smile. So I wrote a love song. The guy is sleeping...and dreaming of his girl. The only thing that is keeping them apart is her suicide. She didnt even mention his name in her note! But..hell he's still in love, even though she left him. He will do whatever it takes to get back into her arms once again. She tells him..hey, I'll be here for you..just do yourself in. So..like any man blinded by love..he stuffs himself out. Well...deja vu...when he gets to the other side...she says something like..."Can we just be friends"? or "I think we should see other souls"? Or the classic..."It's not you..it's me".. Ahhhh life goes on..well..in this case........................
